How PCT began it’s activities

PCT started it's activities first in 2000 in a village (Yeleswaram, E.G.Dist, AP) by issuing cash awards (Rs. 4500/- per year) to the top ranked students in 7th and 10th Standards. The intention was two fold - to create a competitive spirit among the students of the village and also to help them pay for their tuition fee and books. This Scholarship program was extended to the district level in 2002.

Since then, each year PCT invites applications from the students at all levels (High School, Intermediate, Degree, Engg, Medicine, BCA, MCA, M.Tech …) and issue scholarships to selected candidates. The dates of accepting applications and other information is published in the daily local news papers (Eenadu, Vaartha, Janaspandana, Andhra Jyothi and Andhra Bhoomi). We do not pay for this, the press people cover this as a community service. The applications are also distributed to various schools and colleges in the district well in advance so that the students are well aware of it.

The local news papers also cover the annual events of the trust like scholarship distribution function, Community Development Programs like free medical camps for the poor villagers, help restructuring the school buildings etc.
